Western Australia, 1973
A cross between Golden Delicious and Lady Williams, bred by John Cripps. Named after a cocktail. High in both sugar and acidity — only apples that meet strict quality criteria can carry the Pink Lady name.
It has a reputation and it knows it. The thick skin was the first thing I noticed — it takes some effort to get through.
Balanced, but dry. The skin does most of the work. The flesh doesn't give much.
